Reinforced Thermoplastics

Our partners from AIMPLAS participated in a Reinforced Thermoplastics event on the 7th and 8th of February in Cologne, Germany.

Mrs. Begoña Galindo Galiana presented the FOREST project to an audience which included suppliers, moulders, machinery suppliers, reinforcement suppliers, compounders, additive suppliers, raw material suppliers, manufacturers, engineers, researchers, OEMs, end-users and brand owners.

This two-day event served as a valuable platform in the scope of our project to discuss innovations, applications, trends and concerns in industries such as automotive, aerospace, energy, transport, engineering and construction.

Themes and topics for this year's edition of Reinforced Thermoplastics organized by AMI included:

  • Developing and implementing reinforced plastics to meet light-weighting targets

  • Exploring the opportunities and challenges presented by the need to improve sustainability and implement a circular economy

  • Investigating advances in glass fibres, sizing technologies and coupling agents to maximise compound performance

  • The changing role of carbon fibre – how falling costs and the increased availability of recycled reinforcements are opening up new opportunities

  • Natural selections – what are the prospects for renewable fibres and what needs to be done to increase their adoption?

  • Stepping up performance – how the latest advances in LFTs can meet the most challenging demands in a range of applications
