Introducing FOREST consortium member - Bitrez.

Bitrez Ltd is a specialist niche resin manufacturer that designs, develops, and produces specialist polymers. With a focus on high-performance products that may be derived from sustainable feedstocks and, the production of polymers that have an absence of SVHC’s or are designed to fall below specific threshold limits, the Company has been acknowledged for its contribution towards societal needs.   

An innovative SME with two UK facilities and a renowned manufacturer of an array of different chemistry types. With the capability to manufacture various products from a laboratory scale to a pilot plant enabling production of prototype batches. The organization has a broad portfolio of polymers but also offers toll production and support providing use of the muti-reactor main plant with process volumes ranging from 3,000 to 12,000 liters.    

In the FOREST project, Bitrez is involved in several ways but the main focus is product scalability. Utilising Bitrez resources and production facilities to take product concepts through the lab scale up to production considering the various elements that allow production on a safe basis and commercial scale. This includes the process methodology and safety hierarchy, reaction kinetics, and any controls, abatement, and mitigation requirements, ultimately establishing the equipment required to successfully scale up polymer processing.  

Additional considerations include atom economy, energy consumption and catalysis, as well as circularity of material usage. Bitrez provides input regarding material feedstocks, the regulatory landscape, and compliance with legislative needs, both UK, European, and Global.
