Role of Gender in FOREST Research

Gender Imbalance in Industry Workforce

The automotive and transport industries have long struggled with gender imbalances, with women making up only 25% of the workforce and less than 10% of executives.

Many transport policies and vehicle designs have historically been based on male-centric assumptions, leading to significant gender biases in safety, commuting patterns, and employment opportunities.

FOREST celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science

On February 11th, the FOREST project proudly celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, recognizing their vital contributions to research and innovation. Commited to gender inclusivity, FOREST is actively working to close the gender gap in science.

FOREST recognizes that increasing the representation of women at all levels is crucial for building more inclusive, sustainable, and circular transport systems. That’s why we prepared several interviews with the women that help move the FOREST science forward.

While its technologies are gender-neutral, FOREST actively ensures equal opportunities by promoting women's participation in technical, management, and decision-making roles and publishing a Gender Dimension Report (D5.6) to track progress.

The FOREST project promotes gender equality and inclusivity by integrating gender considerations into research, technology, and industry development through Gendered Innovation (Task 5.5), led by AIMPLAS.
